Old Papers

Every once in a while I get an email asking me about a library I wrote as an undergrad computer science major: MPIGALib, and a paper about it's application to the Traveling Salesman Problem. I always have to point people at my paper since it doesn't show up on Google, even after trying to contribute it to citeseer several times.

After a recent such question I thought I'd put a couple of links here:

And while I'm at it here's the work I did on the topic of Galois Theory for my mathematics Capstone.

Been a while

Haven't posted much lately. Probably because of too much work and not enough motivation energy to blog random stuff that comes to mind. I've been in Colorado the last few days, at the Kissinger family reunion. I've been interested in twidlywiki lately for the purposes of blogging. The simplicity of its approach is attractive to me.

So for a bit I will allow a little chaos to imenate from this site and link to the tiddlywiki blog I've been working on on jfet.net known as Bryce Land.

Here's some of my video of the end of the game. People stuck around and celebrated way longer than we were interested int staying. Well, that's probably because they're Italian.

Well the view of the field wasn't the best in the stadium (although it was till pretty good), but the fiew of Hamburg from our seats couldn't be beat

And finally we are at the stadium waiting for the Ukraine V. Italy to begin. We're a bit early so The stadium is fairly empty in this picture, also you can still see some sunlight on the field, which by the time the game started wasn't the case.

Game Day

Our plan on game day after checking into the hotel etc., was to go watch the Germany Argentina game at a public viewing, and then head over to the stadium to whatch the game we had tickets for: Ukraine Vs. Italy. Here's a bunch of German Hooligans on the way to the public viewing.


 

Carat Hotel

The day of the game we had to check out of the hostel and move to this four star hotel, because we hadn't quite reserved the hostel in time and Hamburg was packed. Oh well, it was a little more expensive, but very soft bedded and quiet. Plus having a non comunal bathroom is always nice.

The girls were supposed to come in this night and we got a room with 4 beds in it at "Instant Sleep", but some sort of terrible road catastrophie in London made them miss there flight, so we ended up sharing this room with a couple of American Kids. Hence yet another funny face from Nathan.

Beach Bar

One of the many clubs within 50 feet of our Hostel in Sternschanze was a pretend beach with white sand tiki tourches and large cargo containers which were converted to bars. I got a little camera happy after downing a few .51l Weisbiers.

 

Fan Fest

Later that day, Biancha, Nathan and I went to the "FIFA FanFest" which was emptee since the break before the quarter finals had just started. They did have some nostalgic futbol video playing on this big screen which is used for public showings of the events not in Hamburg. In contrast it seemed quite imposible to make it to this screen on the day of the German/Argintina match since we weren't 2 hours early.

 

The Waterfront

So Biancha an old PLU aquaintance came up to show us around the City a bit and we went to check out the city tours. Upon deciding that they were lame we wandered down to the water, and some ice cream and lime filled alcoholic drinks. This is right before that.
